Job Opening: Director of Religious Education

(Summer, 2025)

 

Saint Helena Parish in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania is seeking a full-time mission-centered professional to assist adults, adolescents, and children of the parish in their faith formation. The Director of Religious Education is directly responsible for organizing the parish's Continuing Catholic Development Program (CCD) Grades K—8 and the Sacramental preparation for all parish children.  The DRE position is a full-time, twelve-month position. The successful candidate must be an active practicing Catholic, in good standing with the Church and possess an ability to form catechists and engage children. 

The DRE reports directly to the pastor. As a member of the parish staff, the DRE works with the Principal of the Elementary School and teachers to foster and maintain a working environment where Catholic formation is modeled and learned.   

The main responsibilities of the DRE include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer the Continuing Catholic Development (CCD) program for grades K-8
  • Coordinate sacramental preparation programs for all parish youth
  • Manage the recruiting, training, and ongoing formation of catechists
  • Prepare liturgies for parish school and the CCD program
  • Oversee Liturgy of the Word for Children (coordinate teams for Sunday Liturgy)
  • Provide various adult faith formation opportunities for the parish community throughout the year
  • Coordinate Retreats: Sacramental, Faculty, 8th Grade.
  • Coordinate adult Bible Studies & faith formation opportunities.
  • Participate in and represent Saint Helena Parish at regional and archdiocesan DRE meetings, catechetical workshops and conferences 

A Bachelor's degree in Theology or Religious Education and a minimum of three years of Catholic parish or school religious education experience is required as well as strong technological and communication skills.
