Job Description:
St. Norbert Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and qualified full-time Learning Support Teacher to serve students in Kindergarten through 4th grade. The Learning Support Teacher will provide specialized instruction in reading and mathematics through both pull-out and push-in models, develop and adapt lesson plans and assessments, and support students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), 504 plans, and other identified learning needs.
The teacher would be responsible for grade levels, K to 4th grade, for the following:
· Creates specialized instruction lesson plans in Reading and Mathematics
· Creates modified assessments for students with Individualized Education Plans
· Adapts materials, learning environments, and curriculum to meet the individualized needs of students with identified specific learning needs.
· Teaches Guided Reading in small groups - Kindergarten through Fourth Grades - pull-out instruction. Teaches reading using a multisensory approach like Wilson or Orton Gillingham
· Teaches Mathematics in small groups - First through Fourth Grade - push-in/pull-out instruction
· Provides resources for classroom teachers to assist students with specific learning needs in the general education curriculum
· Manages paperwork for students with modified and accommodated curriculums
· Communicates with parents regarding students’ academic progress and classroom behavior
· Oversees implementation and execution of IEP, 504, and Psychoeducational testing recommendations for students.
· Takes part in IEP meetings to ensure individual student needs are met.
· Works collaboratively with the student, the parent, the teachers and paraprofessionals to ensure student needs are met and make modifications where necessary.
· Outlines and summarizes IEPs, 504s, and psychoeducational testing for teachers and reviews best practices with teachers to facilitate individual student learning and success.
· Collaborates and works under the guidance of the Learning Support Administrator.
· Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field
· Valid teaching credential; special education certification strongly preferred
· Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a learning support or special education role.
