Job Description:
Our Lady of Angels Regional Catholic School, a Catholic elementary school rooted in Gospel values and committed to academic excellence, is seeking a nurturing and enthusiastic 1st Grade Teacher. This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about early childhood education, foundational literacy and numeracy, and the spiritual development of young children. The ideal candidate will integrate Catholic teachings into daily lessons, create a safe and engaging classroom environment, and support each student’s intellectual, emotional, and faith journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach core subjects including Religion, Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies using developmentally appropriate practices.
- Integrate Catholic values, Scripture, and prayer throughout the school day.
- Foster students’ love of learning, kindness, and understanding of their identity as children of God.
Establish and maintain a structured, supportive, and joyful classroom environment.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of young learners.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents about student progress, classroom activities, and school events.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, specialists, and administration to support student growth.
- Monitor student progress through assessments, observation, and data collection.
- Participate actively in school-wide events, Masses, professional development, and community-building activities.
- Model Christian behavior and actively support the mission of Catholic education and the teachings of the Church.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
- Valid teaching certificate
- Practicing Catholic; commitment to supporting and modeling Catholic faith and values required.
- Previous experience teaching in a primary classroom (K–2) preferred.
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, compassion, and enthusiasm for working with young children.
- Completion of background check and diocesan Safe Environment training (or willingness to complete upon hire).
