Student Programs Coordinator
Merion Mercy Academy, an independent Catholic college preparatory school for girls grades 9-12 outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, seeks a dynamic and energetic coordinator for its Student Life Programs beginning in August, 2025.
The Student Programs Coordinator is a member of the Student Life Office and is under the direction of the Dean of Students. This is a 10-month position, with the months of June and July, school holidays and school vacations off. The ideal work hours are from 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. with occasional night and weekend responsibility.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Student Leadership
- Design and implement a Student Leadership Program based on the Mercy Education Core Values for all elected and appointed student leaders
- Moderate and direct the activities of the Student Council
Student Organizations
- Design and implement annual review of student clubs
- Lead approval process for new clubs
- Ensure each student is involved in two or more student clubs
- Implement attendance tracking system for student clubs
- Coordinate with moderators and reserve meeting spaces for clubs and club events
- Coordinate with moderators to forecast and communicate calendar items to school community on a regular and timely basis
- Meet with club moderators monthly to discuss club needs, plans, programming, etc.
Student Events
- Collaborate on the planning of Mercy Day and Mission Week
- Oversee planning and implementation of special school day events including but not limited to Student Picture Days; Weenie Roast; Advent Angels; and Red, Green, and Jingle Day
- Oversee planning and implementation of Rite of Passage events including but not limited to: Carol Night, Father-Daughter Event, Ring Mass, Senior Trip to NYC, Senior-Mother Luncheon and Senior Fun Day
- Oversee planning and implementation of all dances and Junior-Senior Prom
- Design and implement weekly after-school pop-up activities for students
First Year Programs
- Collaborate with Enrollment Management and Academics to plan and implement Accepted Student Night; Post Placement Test Session; and June Onboarding Event
- Coordinate monthly Class Meetings (set agenda, arrange staffing, etc.)
- Coordinate Freshman Orientation
Student Support
- Provide support for daily attendance
- Oversee Holistic Student Review Process for Freshmen
- Support the Dean of Students as requested
Skills and Competencies
- Experience in student affairs, student programming, event planning or related roles
- Strong organizational skills
- Sense of humor and a flexible, can-do attitude with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and unexpected challenges
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to develop, coordinate, and assess student engagement initiatives
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities
- Proficiency in using technology tools
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience in student affairs, student programming, event planning or related roles
- Familiarity with Merion Mercy Academy traditions is a plus.
