Job Purpose
The purpose of the fulltime position is coordination and administration of the faith formation and pastoral ministry for the Deaf community, as well as providing comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Office for Persons with Disabilities and the Deaf Apostolate. This role ensures the successful execution of various ministries, events, and outreach efforts, while enabling the director to focus on higher level strategic planning and execution of their mission and in spreading the love of Christ through the planning and implementation of various ministries and events.
Duties and Responsibilities
Faith Formation & Pastoral Ministry (Deaf Apostolate)
- Coordinate a schedule of Sunday Masses in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreted Masses at designated sites throughout the Archdiocese.
- Assist the Deaf Apostolate Chaplain in the liturgical and faith formation activities of Deaf lay leaders.
- Provide pastoral care to Deaf adults during personal crises, family emergencies, and death.
- Administer a program of ongoing faith formation for Deaf adults and encourage community participation.
- Collaborate with the Chaplain to provide evangelization efforts and outreach programs to reach non-Catholic Deaf individuals and Deaf Catholics who are not actively practicing their faith.
- Coordinate outreach programs to engage the Deaf community and foster connections with local parishes and ministries.
- Foster strong community engagement and support for the mission of the Deaf Apostolate.
- Coordinate religious education programs for Deaf youth, ensuring accessible sacramental preparation and faith formation.
- Maintain accurate sacramental records.
- Identify, train, and support catechists for Deaf youth programs, and organize materials for their instruction.
- Coordinate a summer religious education camp for Deaf children, including logistical coordination, staffing, and funding opportunities.
- Foster parent involvement in the faith formation of Deaf children and coordinate family faith formation activities.
- Ensure Safe Environment compliance for catechists and volunteers working with Deaf youth.
Projects
- Coordinate a summer religious education camp for Deaf children, including logistical coordination, staffing, and funding opportunities.
- Design promotional materials such as flyers, brochures and booklets
- Collaborate with ministry partners
- Coordinate registration, confirmation and materials for events
- Actively explores opportunities for expansion and renewal of ministries
- Assist directors with higher level projects, as needed
- Manage telephone calls, messages and emails, maintaining a response time of one business day
- Promptly acknowledges all communication from Directors
- Sort and distribute incoming mail, prepare and organize outgoing mail
- Create and distribute large communication e-mailings via Flocknote according to established office calendar and emergent needs
- Assist in the preparation of monthly mailings to clergy
- Create template responses for typical inquiries
- Represent the office in a professional and friendly manner for minor events
- Build relationships with and support ministry leaders in parishes
- Assist in planning and preparation of meetings and workshops
- Coordinating with ministry partners in scheduling key events
- Familiarity with interdepartmental shared calendar
- Prepare daily correspondence and other documents, ensuring that they are free from errors and inaccuracies
- Create and maintain electronic and hard copy files
- Maintain database for contacts and programs and update email groups
- Prepare deposits, check requests, invoices and credit card statements
- Photocopy and print various materials
- Provide assistance at events when necessary
- Maintain and order office supplies
- Oversee website updates
- Manage social media accounts
- Participate in other projects, as needed

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree related to ministry, theology, religious education or related field required or equivalent experience and ministerial formation. |
