St. Charles Borromeo Seminary

St. Charles Borromeo Seminary is seeking a Part Time Staff Nurse (RN) for their location at 1400 Evans Road, Ambler, PA 19002

This is a non-benefit-eligible part-time position, 10 hours/week.

SUMMARY:

Provides routine nursing care for any Seminarians on campus and interprets medical reports for admissions. Collaborates with the Deans of Men (College Seminary and Theological Seminary) concerning medical concerns and missed days from classes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Reviews medical/immunization records of new seminarians to ensure compliance of all legal requirements.
2. Assist and follow up with seminarians, as needed, to fulfill all health requirements.
3. Maintains medical/student records in accordance with the record retention system of the seminary and Pennsylvania State laws governing retention of records.
4. Reviews OSHA standards and formulates policy for Saint Charles Seminary to ensure compliance; knowledge of FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
5. Is available to provide routine nursing care for seminarians and to keep records of such visits and the medical treatment provided.
6. Provides on-call consultation to the Seminary Administration, as needed, when health concerns arise.
7. Keeps the Deans of Men (College Seminary, Pre-Theology Seminary and Theological Seminary) well informed of the medical condition of individual seminarians and of any medical concerns which could impact the seminary community.
8. Supervises the care and use of the medical equipment and supplies.
9. Publicizes and coordinates the Red Cross Blood Drive hosted at the seminary, including the arrangement of appropriate facilities, scheduling of donors, and providing reports of Blood Drive for the Seminary Administration.
10. Inspects and maintains the First Aid Kits located in the Infirmary, College Seminary Dormitories, Theological Seminary Dormitories, Spirituality by request, and Gym area/other by request.
11. Provides nursing support for special events at the seminary as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS: RN, BSN. A broad range of experience including med-surg, ER, or ICU, and excellent assessment skills. Management experience, including working with administration, collaborating with administration/others in key outcomes for the safety and well-being of the seminary community. Knowledge and current updates on immunization requirements for secondary education. Knowledge and planning for unexpected illnesses/communicable disease outbreaks. Keep current on CDC food borne outbreaks/illnesses in other countries where the seminarians may travel. Relay medical information concerning this, or as requested by seminarians or administration. Knowledge of physical assessments, nursing standards in charting, and laboratory/tests results. Knowledge of regulatory/laws governing this infirmary. Unencumbered PA license.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  

RN, BSN

Current active license with no restrictions

Keeps current on continuing education credits

CPR certified

Keeps current on food/communicable outbreaks

Knowledge of writing policies, goals, and interventions

Parish Nurse experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be able to climb stairs and walk to numerous places on campus. Perform emergency/CPR if necessary.
