JOB TITLE:                                      RA Evening Supervisor, 3 PM to 11 PM, some weekends

Saint John’s and Good Shepherd Program

DIRECT REPORTS:                       Resident Assistants (RA’s) All shifts

 

SUMMARY:

In a manner consistent with the mission and values of Catholic Charities, Saint John’s Hospice and Good Shepherd programs, the Resident Assistant (RA) Supervisor is responsible for managing all RA’s at Saint John’s and Good Shepherd. The RA Supervisor completes weekly scheduling of RA’s and documents that all shifts are filled at both sites. The supervisor monitors RA job performance while using progressive disciplinary management techniques. The RA supervisor reports to the Operations Manager all information related to RA job performance, ensuring professional behavior, interactions and treatment of participants under their care. The RA supervisor is meant to be the model of professionalism demonstrating to staff the way to be respectful, courteous and kind to all participants, visitors, donors and volunteers.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Posting open RA positions internally and externally
  • Recruiting, interviewing and hiring RA employees under the supervision of the Operation’s Manager and Program Director
  • Training new employees in all aspects of their job duties, ensuring that all requirements of the job are understood prior to working alone
  • Will ensure shift coverage and assist in emergencies
  • Scheduling Trauma Informed Care training for all staff
  • Ensuring that all RA’s are enrolled in and attend Trauma Informed Care classes
  • Creating and distributing the weekly RA schedule to managers, supervisors and the front desk    
  • Responsible for overseeing the shelter care, support, and monitoring of participants by ensuring they Sign-in and Sign-out during RA shifts
  • Collaborate with Program (Social Work) Supervisor to manage medication administration and ensure RAs’ compliance with policies.
  • Holds or able to obtain certification in CPR and first aid.
  • Obtains and maintains food safety handling certification
    • Monitor RA generated reports and ensured communication between RA’s, Front Desk and Case Managers
    • Maintains client and staff confidentiality in conformance with Agency confidentiality
    • Supervise and monitor RA’s performance, provide ongoing training and support, and address any issues related to job performance.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities

    • Maintain scheduling and management of the staff calendar, ensuring regular shift coverage and coverage for call outs, holidays and vacations.
    • Is available to assist in any emergency/crisis with the residents.
    • Monitor and ensure hourly rounds, logbook, and daily worksheets are completed.
    • Lead regular monthly RA team meetings (and emergency meeting when necessary).
    • Ensure RAs adheres to Best Practices for Creating Safe and Dignified Experiences for Emergency Meal Guests and Definitions of Safety, Dignity, and Trauma-Informed Practice guidelines during dinner and snack.
    • Work collaboratively with Coffee House supervisor to ensure efficient operations across programs and daily communication.
    • Ensure that medication is distributed as per approved guidelines, in collaboration with the Program (Social Work) Supervisor.
    • Train RA’s on medication administration
    • Attend staff meetings, supervisory sessions and make use of in-service opportunities.  
    • Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Ability to supervise, evaluate and direct RA team
  • Ability to apply and ensure rules and regulations are upheld
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and behavior
  • Has a desire, interest and ability to work with men having Drug addiction and/or mental illness and a history of homelessness.
  • Has excellent organizational skills, is flexible, hospitable, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to respond positively to changing priorities
  • Good judgement and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Works well with others; is flexible and hospitable
  • Holds current valid state driver’s license
  • BA, BS, BSW with (3-5 years) supervisory experience working with individuals experiencing Drug addiction, mental illness and homelessness.
  • Knowledge and orientation of philosophy of the Agency as presented in Mission/ Philosophy Statements.
