Job Title: Coordinator of Young Adult Ministry

Approx. 10 hours/week

Competitive hourly pay commensurate with experience.

Start-date is flexible.

Job Description:

  • Arrange and host events specifically for Catholic young adults in their 20’s and 30’s, as well as their non-Catholic friends. 
  • Cultivate a welcoming environment of encounter where young adults are respected and encouraged to grow in faith. Be prepared to include Catholics of all cultural backgrounds, lifelong Catholics, lapsed Catholics, reverts, converts and also those who are simply curious about Catholicism.
  • Arrange and host monthly gatherings at a local restaurant/bar for “Theology on Tap”
  • Secure guest speakers for each Theology on Tap event. Guest speakers can be Catholic laypeople, religious or clergy. All guest speakers must be faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Publicize events as appropriate throughout the parish, Delaware County and Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  Leverage social media, word of mouth, email newsletters, printed fliers, Sunday bulletins and the parish website in order to promote the ministry and specific events.
  • Recruit and lead a core team of volunteers to envision and execute ministry activities.
  • Liaise with the Archdiocesan Office for “Ministry with Young Adults” and with other young adult ministries throughout the archdiocese
  • Represent the ministry and the parish at archdiocesan events and young adult events hosted by other parishes and groups.
  • Arrange other events as desired such as dances, dating events for Catholic singles, service projects at the parish and beyond, nature walks, bible studies, faith sharing, catechetical programs, retreats and pilgrimages, a “Theology on Tap for all Generations”, St. Patrick’s Day Party, etc.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Practicing Catholic: makes a good faith effort to follow the teachings of the Catholic Church, and attends mass weekly.
  • Strong public speaking skills; able to comfortably address new audiences of varying backgrounds and ages.
  • Strong networking skills
  • Proficiency in social media and communication technology
  • Familiarity with young adults in their 20s and 30s, from recent high school and college graduates to mid-career professionals.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Availability and willingness to work on evenings and weekends, with advance notice
  • A good team-player
