 Job purpose and opportunity

The Catholic Church of Philadelphia is embarking on a bold, 20-year journey of renewal through the Trust and Hope initiative. At the heart of this transformation is an urgent reality: 83% of baptized Catholics are not regularly participating in the life of the Church. Central to this multi-faceted renewal strategy is the establishment of 50 Missionary Hubs across the Catholic Church of Philadelphia over the next ten years, designed to reach those who have drifted away and invite them into transformative relationships with Jesus Christ through bold witness, authentic encounter, and digital evangelization that meets people where they live, work, and scroll.

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Missionary Hubs who will be dedicated to guiding the staff of regional Missionary Hubs rooted in the values and teachings of the Catholic faith and consistent with the Archbishop’s vision. Reporting directly to the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), this leadership role will be instrumental in moving forward the Archbishop’s initiative to re-engage those who are not currently attending Mass as well as engaging all people in the Philadelphia area.

Duties and responsibilities                                                                                                                                                             Faith-Aligned Planning and Project Management

  • Be the key point of contact for the staff of the Missionary Hubs and the pastors with whom they
  • Oversee and manage projects, in collaboration with other Strategy Office staff, the Catholic Leadership Institute (CLI), and other departments that contribute to the strategic plan of the Catholic Church of Philadelphia
  • Maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the spiritual and societal impact of strategic initiatives, in addition to conventional metrics
  • Work as part of a team to identify potential locations for the next phases of Missionary Hubs as described at https://trustandhope.org
  • Oversee operational processes and systems to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and collaboration across various departments and ministries within the Missionary Hubs
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in the Strategy Office to ensure responsible stewardship of resources, including reviewing budgets with Hub Directors in a way that aligns with the values of the Church
  • Apostolic heart: You understand we are living in apostolic times requiring missionary strategies, not maintenance strategies.
  • Creative vision: You imagine new ways to tell ancient truths and translate the Church's mission for contemporary culture.
  • Detail-oriented, resilient, humble: You care about excellence in every pixel and word, navigate ambiguity with grace, and serve with joy.
  • Builder's mentality: You thrive in environments where the roadmap is still being written. You're energized by roles that evolve as the mission matures, and you can toggle seamlessly between big-picture vision and the day-to-day details that bring it to life.
