TITLE: Director of Adult Faith Formation
REPORTS TO: Pastor
General Coordination / Administration
The primary responsibility of the Director of Adult Faith Formation and evangelization is to help OLG live our vision to be a vibrant, welcoming parish family growing disciples and making church matter by providing adult faith education, disciple making skills and spiritual development programs. The role of the Director is:
- To be accountable to the pastor and function as a part of the parish pastoral staff
- To assess and continue developing comprehensive adult faith formation according to the Archdiocesan Guidelines
- Initially, to execute the Adult Faith Formation aspects of OLG's 2023 strategic plan. Then to update, enhance and execute future versions of that plan.
- To work with volunteers in the development, implementation, and maintenance of educational and spiritual development programs to effectively meet the targeted needs.
- To work with heads of ministry, clergy, staff, parish pastoral council, Archdiocesan Office for Catechetical Formation to efficiently execute the strategic plan.
- To work collaboratively with the various personnel and programs that embody the parish efforts to educate all parishioners, including the Director of Youth Ministry, Director of Youth Ministry, Director of Hispanic. Ministry, Parish Catholic Youth Organization, the Parish Liturgy Committee and the OICA
- To perform additional administrative responsibilities as identified by the pastor.
- Maintain communication with the pastor and other staff members
- Attend staff meetings and events
- Act as a staff resource person on issues relating to adult faith formation
- Participate in the Parish Pastoral Council
- Coordinate and work with the Adult Faith Formation Committee to determine education needs.
- Develop and implement religious education programs for all adults of the parish.
- Serve as a facilitator in programs.
- Coordinate prayer experiences for program participants.
- Provide leadership and training to volunteers responsible for conducting Adult Faith Formation programs.
- Responsible for evaluating effectiveness of programs in meeting stated needs.
- Identify adult learning opportunities outside the parish.
- Determine material needs for conducting programs and submits requests in accordance with parish procedures.
- Develop annual budget and submit for approval.
- Create a yearly calendar of Adult Faith Formation events.
- Promote and publicize Adult Faith Formation activities.
- Coordinate and work with clergy and the RCIA director to organize and administer the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults.
- Develop ways to implement Archdiocesan and the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops guidelines and policies on adult faith formation.
- Develop goals and objectives for the adult faith formation (measures to include scope and impact of program within the parish)
- Implement curriculum in accordance with guidelines issued by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Office of Catechetical Formation.
- Select appropriate instructional materials.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate catechists, catechetical assistants, volunteers. Training includes, but is not limited to providing weekly newsletters for catechists and maintaining resource cent
- Ensure that administrative records/tasks are completed accurately and on a timely basis.
- Ensure payment of all fees and accurate recording of same.
- Provide accurate and timely reports, as required.
- Provide input for and works within the budget allocated for the operation of the program.
- Follow parish's established financial procedures.
- Adjust program components (space, time, materials, etc.) as needed.
- Provide other assistance and support as needed.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University
- Proficient computer skills to maintain databases, perform word processing, outlook functions, internet skills and parish data systems skills.
- Appropriate and friendly communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
- Demonstrates ability to organize work effectively and to set priorities
- Functions in a manner consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church
- Archdiocesan Association of Parish Directors, Coordinators, Administrators of Religious Education (PDCARE).
- Archdiocesan sponsored events such as the Catechetical Forum, Fall and Spring Professional Days and Retreats.
- Regional and Deanery meetings sponsored by the Office for Catechetical Formation.

Work Environment
Maintains a flexible work schedule averaging five (5) days and at least forty (40) hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and special occasions. Scheduled work hours will vary to accommodate program needs as established by the adult faith formation programs, parish religious education programs and summer religious education programs, etc.
