Mission
Under the direction of and in service to the Holy Father, the Pontifical Mission Societies brings the Gospel, material support and humanitarian relief to Mission Dioceses around the world. The Societies care for 1,111 dioceses in Asia, Africa, the Pacific Islands and remote regions of Latin America until they can be self-sufficient. Our goal is to spread much needed awareness to Catholics within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia about the need to pray and contribute to these Mission communities.
Missionary Childhood Association –Overview
The Missionary Childhood Association [MCA] is one of four Pontifical Mission Societies. MCA is dedicated to reminding children of their baptismal call to be Missionary. With a focus on Prayer and Sacrifice, MCA has a dual mandate of educating children about the Church’s missionary work while challenging them to share what they have with children growing up in the missions. This work is primarily targeted towards students in K-8th grade in Parish schools and Parish Religious Education Programs [PREP]. In the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, MCA is also responsible for providing Mission programs for Youth and Young Adults throughout the region.
Missionary Childhood Association Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop Mission Animation and increase participation in Mission programs at Catholic Elementary schools [102 current], Parish Religious Education [about 214 current] programs and Catholic High Schools [15 current] in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
- Implement concepts in collaboration with the Archdiocesan Office for Catechetical Formation and Catholic Education, specifically addressing the sixth task of Catechesis, Missionary Initiation, identified in the National Directory for Catechesis.
- Provide educational resources for teachers, catechists, catechetical leaders and youth ministers.
- Schedule, plan, and host Archdiocesan-wide virtual and in-person events throughout the year.
- Plan and implement projects in conjunction with the MCA National office in the US.
- Act in collaboration with local Religious mission communities to secure speakers for MCA.
- Organize World Mission Rosary Service Projects for schools, parishes, youth groups, high school rosary clubs, Bible Camps and sacrament retreat days throughout the year. This also includes volunteer recruitment to help prepare supplies for the various service project.
- Create new initiatives, original programs as well as identify opportunities that will encourage continued commitment to MCA.
- Assist with and support all Pontifical Mission Societies sponsored Masses, events, programs and fundraising efforts, including World Mission Sunday, throughout the year.

Communications – Responsibility Overview
- Manage and grow on-line communication, strategies and programs to meet build awareness and promote our Mission across platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Reddit, and others
- Create and maintain pages of the Societies website and social media.
- Acknowledge participation, document donations and send communications to the schools and parishes who support MCA in order to foster ongoing relationships.
KnowLedge & Skill Set
- Due to the nature of our work, candidate must be a practicing Catholic in communion with the Church and have a passion for bring the faith and the words of Jesus to others.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Theology or Religious Education/Education or credentials equivalent to teach in Archdiocesan school system or to serve as Parish DRE preferred.
- Strong program planning/organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficient skills with WordPress, Constant Contact, Social Media postings and Microsoft office.
- Excellent written, interpersonal, communication [including proofreading] and public speaking/presentation skills.
- Enjoys working in a team setting and is a practical, self-motivated individual that enjoys personal contact.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies.
- Job requires night and weekend availability upon request.
- Position open for one full-time employee.
- Clearances will be required as well as other documentation if the position is offered.
Salary: Full-time Salaried position $55,000 plus/annual Experience dependent.
