St. Bernard’s in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia is seeking a maintenance employee who can perform all aspects of cleaning, maintenance, and repair for: Church/Chapel, school buildings and Rectory full time.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitors the operations of major facility systems (in particular: HVAC, electric, plumbing, painting, etc.) to provide efficient and effective operations.
• Performs routine repairs when required.
• Oversees and maintains parish equipment.
• Available for emergency on call.
• Ensures facilities and grounds are maintained, functional and accessible including in the event of snow/ice or inclement weather.
• Performs minor maintenance and landscaping. Performs light carpentry work and minor repair work on the facilities as needed. Recommends when contract work may be required to complete a task or project.
• Provides other general assistance as needed.
• Ensures the collection and disposal of recycling and trash for all facilities.
• Supervised by the business manager at the direction of the pastor
• Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Previous experience in minor repair work in carpentry, electrical, plumbing and painting.
• Valid state driver's license.
• Must be able to complete background checks.

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED.

Experience:

•  Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, climb ladders, walk, bend for extended periods of time, and lift heavy items.
