The Church of Saint Joseph in Aston is seeking an associate who can perform all aspects of cleaning, maintenance, and repair for: Church/Chapel, Gymnasium, and Rectory three days a week and the same at the parish of Saint Francis de Sales, Lenni, two days a week.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors the operations of major facility systems (in particular: HVAC, electric, plumbing, painting, etc.) to provide efficient and effective operations.
  • Performs routine repairs and obtains proper certification, when required.
  • Maintains open file of emergency systems (plumbing, electrical, fire, sewage, etc.).
  • Oversees and maintains parish equipment.
  • Assists in the management of outside contractors during implementation of new or continuing projects.
  • Available for emergency on call.
  • Ensures facilities and grounds are maintained, functional and accessible including in the event of snow/ice or inclement weather.
  • Performs minor maintenance, landscaping of the rectory, church/chapel, and/or other gymnasium. Performs light carpentry work and minor repair work on the facilities as needed. Recommends when contract work may be required to complete a task or project. Meet with contractors at initiation and conclusion of projects.
  • Provides other general assistance as needed through setting up chairs and tables as requested, hauls and moves items and picks up parts or other equipment as requested by parish staff through pastor or business manager.
  • Ensures the collection and disposal of recycling, trash and garbage for all facilities.
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies for lighting and cleaning, and orders additional supplies as requested.
  • Supervised by the business manager at respective campuses at the direction of the pastor / parochial administrator
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • On-call availability for emergencies.
  • Previous experience in minor repair work in carpentry and painting.
  • Previous experience implementing a comprehensive cleaning plan for a facility, including sweeping, dusting, washing and waxing.
  • Previous experience maintaining grounds, parking lots and roads.
  • Valid state driver's license.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Experience:

  •  Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, climb ladders, walk, bend for extended periods of time, and lift heavy items.
